The study aimed to know the extent of practicing the benchmarking in the governmental secondary schools in Taif city its stages including (the readiness, the planning. The governmental secondary schools in Taif city attracts the attention of its teachers. the study also aims to show if there is a linkage relation of statistical significance between the independent variable of the study (benchmarking) and the dependent variable of the study (the institutional excellence) the governmental secondary schools in Taif city and showing the extent of the benchmarking impact in achieving the institutional excellence in the governmental secondary schools in Taif city. To achievetheaims of the study, the researcher usedthe analytical descriptive method, he used the questionnaire form that were distributed among sample of (339) teachers in Taif city. The results of the study showed that the benchmarking is practiced in the governmental secondary schools in Taif city with a middle degree in general. with the mathematical average of (2.86) for all the dimensions – the ranking of the dimensions appeared on the following (readiness,:planning, following up and application) the study also showed that the institutional excellence dimensions in the governmental secondary schools in Taif city are available with an average degree of (2.83) for all the dimensions the ranking of the dimensions appeared on the following form: the leadership.
